Emergency Medicine NP Job Details
- Position: Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner
- Employment Type: Locum tenens

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $3,260–$3,870
- Start Date: December 1, 2026
- Initial Contract Duration: Approximately 12 weeks, through February 23, 2027
- Schedule: Day and night coverage, including 10-hour daytime shifts, 12-hour nighttime weekday shifts, and 12-hour weekend shifts
- Emergency Department: 24 beds, including a 7-bed vertical pathway and 2 intake rooms
- Trauma Designation: Level II
- Patient Volume: Approximately 1–1.5 patients per hour
- Patient Acuity: Primarily Emergency Severity Index levels 2 and 3
- Admission Rate: Approximately 35%
- Orientation: Two orientation or shadow shifts
- Clinical Support: Standard emergency department support staff, nurse or APP triage for lower-acuity patients, and physician coverage with daytime APP overlap
Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner Requirements
- At least 2 years of emergency medicine experience as a Nurse Practitioner
- Active Kansas Nurse Practitioner license at the time of presentation
- Current standard emergency medicine APP certifications and credentials
- Ability to provide documentation and case logs meeting standard credentialing requirements
- Clean professional and credentialing record
- Availability beginning in December 2026
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced emergency department
Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat emergency department patients across a broad range of acuities
- Manage primarily moderate- to high-acuity Emergency Severity Index level 2 and 3 cases
- Perform comprehensive patient histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning
- Coordinate care with emergency physicians, nursing professionals, support staff, and consulting services
- Provide timely reassessment, stabilization, disposition planning, and patient education
- Participate in day, night, and weekend coverage according to department needs
- Complete accurate clinical documentation and maintain required case logs
- Participate in orientation and departmental workflows while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality emergency care
