  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, day shifts (8 or 10 hours): 7:00am–3:00pm or 7:00am–5:00pm
  • Hours per Week: 40 (full-time; 4 weeks per month availability required)
  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $11,800 – $12,430
  • Completion Bonus: $20,000 (eligible if start by 5/18/26 and complete 13 consecutive weeks / 520 hours)
  • Coverage / Cross-Credentialing: Scott's Hill Outpatient Surgery Center, New Hanover Orthopedic Hospital, Pender Medical Center

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited College of Medicine
  • Board Certification in Anesthesiology required
  • Completion of an accredited Anesthesia residency
  • Current, unrestricted North Carolina physician license required (NC medical license)
  • ECFMG and FLEX (if applicable)
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as an anesthesiologist; locum tenens or contract experience preferred
  • Experience supervising CRNAs (supervisory model; independent CRNA cases not required)
  • Willingness to cross-credential and work across multiple hospital sites; adaptable to site-specific protocols
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic health record (Epic EHR) preferred

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide perioperative anesthesia care across multiple facilities, including pre-anesthesia assessment and informed consent discussions
  • Oversee induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia and monitor physiologic status during procedures
  • Provide medical direction and supervision of CRNAs and collaborate with surgical teams and nursing staff to ensure safe, efficient care
  • Respond to intraoperative events and perform necessary clinical interventions
  • Support departmental coordination and leadership activities across the Anesthesia Department at outpatient surgery center and hospitals
  • Maintain flexibility to cover varying case mixes (including orthopedic and outpatient surgical cases) as assigned
